I am Congressman Miller’s health care aide and I wanted to respond to your August 7th email regarding H.R. 3400 versus H.R. 3200. There is not a good side-by-side comparison of only these two bills, but the Kaiser Foundation put together a very useful side-by-side chart of a number of competing proposals, including HR 3200 and HR 3400. I’ve attached it here. I’m also attaching a highly detailed breakdown of HR 3400, section-by section, that may provide some useful information. You can also look at the summary of the bill on Congressman Miller’s website http://jeffmiller.house.gov/
Please let me know if you have any further questions or if I can be of further
help.

Below are links to the two documents. Both are quite lengthy, but of the two I suggest reading one breaking down the House Republicans response to the Democrat's Bill H.R 3200 (The Republican Proposed response is H.R. 3400)
Here is the breakdown of the Republican Bill. As an aside, unlike the Democrats bill, the Republicans take on Tort reform. If I had my "druthers" I would make it the center piece of the bill and be a bit more draconian in my initial demands on the "John Edwards" of the world, but hey, it's a start.
Here is the Kaiser Foundation breakdown of all the myriad versions of health care floating around. What is evident at first glance is the sheer size of this condensed review of the competing health bills. Rule of thumb: the more complex the bill, the worse it is. For example, the Democrat bill, H.R. 3200, is over a THOUSAND PAGES. In contrast, the Republican Bill (H.R. 3400) is just under 250 pages. That should tell you something. In the military, we had a saying.."K.I.S.S" -- "Keep it Simple Stupid". Those plans that passed the "KISS" test usually were the best.
Many Thanks to Congressman Miller and his Staff for the documents. If I had any advice, I would suggest we get more aggressive in getting our message out and hammer the opposition for being in the back pocket of the "John Edwards" faction of the Democratic party.
