Pat is questioning the new Arena at NWF State College...just now..A little late Pat...It is almost finished...
Here is my response:
Dear Mr. Rice:
You are a day late and dollar short... as usual.
One could argue that with the ever increasing cost of college tuition, that local colleges are becoming a more attractive option to our families looking to get their child a better education. A new arena for sports that also can be used as a emergency center is not out of the question and makes the school more attractive.
Why not think outside of the box and ask why do we allow tenure at our State-run universities and colleges? Many professors are overpaid and not really worth what the state pays them. Why are we wedded to the concept of a Four year degree? Why don't we base a student's tuition on what subjects he is taking. For example, Science majors get more of a break and grants, while liberal arts majors have to pay the more of their tuition out of pocket.
Journalism Students would get zero grants or favorable student loans as it is one of the disciplines that really have no meaning in today's modern world. In fact, I would recommend we remove that subject from our curriculum all together as anyone with a little effort, can do a newspaperman's job.
Let's face it, If Katie Couric is at the top of your profession, then let's make "perkiness" a requirement to be a top flight journalist.
