Time for the GOP to go for the House Democrats Jugular
If you have a Republican representing you in the house, make sure they are raising hell about this. If you have a democrat representing you in the house, demand to know why he/she is tolerating a tax cheat as one of their top leaders.
Republicans should insist on a independent counsel to go after Rangel, especially after Eric Holder's Justice Department has provided special treatment (read whitewash) the Black Panthers and Bill Richardson.
Federal Government Going off the Deep End
Coming after your local garage sale. Money quote:
Scott Wolfson, a spokesman for the agency, said it wouldn't be dispatching bureaucratic storm troopers into private homes to see whether people were
selling recalled products from their garages, yards or churches.
"We're not looking to come across as being heavy-handed," he said. "We want to make sure that everybody knows what the rules of engagement are to help spur greater compliance, so that enforcement becomes less of an issue. But we're still going to enforce."
"WE ARE STILL GOING TO ENFORCE."
You can't even have a garage sale in peace.
Would make a great commercial "While America goes broke and terrorists go free, Obama and the Democrats go after neighborhood garage sales!"
Senate delays global warming bill again
Robert "KKK" Byrd is against it, but he hasn't been seen for a while (he's 93 and in ill health). Wonder how his fellow West Virginian, Jay Rockefeller ( of the Standard Oil Rockefellers) will vote?

On the Darkness of One Man's Soul
Two young men made bad decisions and are now paying for it in the harshest of terms. While there is pity for these young men, there is also an acknowledgement that justice has been done for the dead and their families.
Now, I want you to listen to this interview with Edward Klein. For your information, Edward Klein was an editor of "Newsweek" and was editor-in-chief of the of "The New York Time Magazine". He has contributed to "Vanity Fair" and to the newspaper insert "Parade" magazine. He is firmly ensconced in the Main Stream Media. He is also a confidant of the Kennedy family. Now listen to his words during an NPR interview:
Yes, you heard correctly, Teddy Kennedy made jokes about Chappaquiddick and eagerly shared them openly with others. And Ed Klein, for lack of better words, thought it "cool". The NPR hostess, didn't even blink an eye when he blurted out this damning fact...she was just "o so blasé" and moved on.
This speaks volumes of the morass that Washington and the MSM have become. A bloated, fetid creature, intertwined and parasitic on the rest of America, removed from the everyday values and decency that exist within the average American family.
I am no saint. As a young man I did many stupid things. Most young men do. But, thankfully, most men grow-up and look back at those days and admit to themselves how stupid they were back then. It's all part of life's lessons.
Teddy Kennedy never paid a price for his crime, other than being denied the Presidency. And the media, because of Kennedy's name and because of they shared the same political beliefs, eventually glossed over the fact that he allowed a young woman to slowly suffocate to death in a pond of water, while he went to a hotel to sleep off his drunk. Nor was he a teenager when he did this awful act, he was a full grown man of 37 and a United States Senator.
I say now, when any politician, pundit or Kennedy try to claim Edward Kennedy felt remorse for his evil, immoral deed that day in 1969 and defend his life in terms of any supposed accomplishments in the Senate, they should be asked, why did he make jokes about the death of Mary Jo Kopechne and why should we admire such a creature?
And when the Democrats and their symbiotic Press corps trot out his memory to push healthcare, call them on it. Why should we honor the memory of a man who made jokes about a young woman he killed and showed no remorse. Why should we trust the beliefs and ideas of such an amoral monster? And when Senators and congressmen come out and pay tribute to him...ask them why they tolerated the company of such a man? Ask this of both Democrats and Republicans. Their willingness to tolerate and yes, admire, such a man speaks volumes of what has gone wrong in Washington.
Did such a man deserve the over the top television coverage his death and funeral (presented live and in HD!) with grandchildren being trotted out and spewing forth the political tripe their elders wrote for them? And why was a "private" internment broadcast live where the priest was wearing a microphone for sound and the family passing one around so their words could be heard across this land of ours? And above all, why was this cretin buried in America's most hallowed ground? Simply because he was named Kennedy and the brother of a slain President?
Edward Moore Kennedy is now dead and buried. If his life is to have any meaning to the average American, let it be this: The United States of America, land of where no man is supposedly above the law, broke this rule and allowed this criminal, amoral, alcoholic man born of wealth and privilege walk untouched in the halls of power for 40 years. Let us not tolerate such behavior ever again.

Shame on Charlie Crist

Charlie Crist demonstrated today that he is unqualified to become Florida's Junior Senator in 2011. When faced with the task of picking a replacement for Mel Martinez, he went through the motions of contacting Republican leaders and soliciting their opinion as to who should be Florida's interim Senator. Once this charade was done, he then proceeded to pick one of his closest cronies to be Senator, George LeMieux. I doubt LeMieux was on many of those Republican leader's lists.
This was an opportunity for Charlie Crist to rise above the "good ole boys" system that has been the bane of Florida politics for generations and to appoint someone who adamantly opposes the Democratic agenda and had no further political ambitions other than to hold the line against Obama and his minions in Washington till Florida votes in 2010. Instead, we get the same political "hackery" that put the Republican party in the minority in Congress. This is Charlie's "Harriet Myers" moment. It was the conservative base of the Republicans that stopped that travesty... not because it was politically useful (opposing the President who is also the leader of your party isn't useful) but because it was right. It was right because Myers was unqualified; It was right because crony politics harmed the Party's image; It was right because Republicans could do better (and finally did with Justice Alito); It was right because it was, most importantly, good for the country.
Charlie Crist has spit in the face of the bedrock of the Florida Republican Party and put in the Senate an unqualified hack. I would put my resume up against LeMieux's any day. Being a "yes man" doesn't qualify you for Senator.
Republicans: The bad news is that it's probably too late to stop this. There is no Senate confirmation process to slow this down and Congress reconvenes on 8 September. But what we can do is deny Charlie Crist the right to ever sit the United States Senate. Charlie Crist's open endorsement of TARP and Obama's "Porkulus" bill and budget crossed a bright red line as to what Republicans stand for and what Democrats scheme for. If we want to stop this orgy of fiscal irresponsibility that is occurring in D.C., the last thing we need to do vote in Charlie Crist, who has proven to:
a) Have poor economic judgment
b) Have poor political judgment
c) Really possess only one bedrock principle and that is to do whatever it takes to get himself elected to higher office.
I don't give a "Tinker's Damn" about Charlie Crist and his political future. The only future I care about is my son's and my wife's. And what is in their best interest is to deny Charlie Crist the Republican nomination for U.S Senator of the Great State of Florida. Republicans need new faces and politicians that are not spendthrift hacks.
Charlie Crist does not fit the bill.

Kennedy Care?! These People Don't Get It
Don't they realize that once they go there, the man's entire life will be fair game? Don't they know that it will also involve another Democratic Senator, Chris Dodd, who was his, for lack of a better name, Drinking Buddy?
I've haven't posted on Kennedy's death and was planning to stay away from it out of simple human decency... But if Obama and the Democrats try to pull a Wellstone and use Ted's Death for political game, then the gloves must and will come off by all Americans who are alarmed over the growth of the Federal Government.
It's a Pandora's Box...once you open it, it will be too late to stop.

Tell Congress: Either Pass the Polygraph or Enact Term Limits: They choose
Charlie Rangel, John Conyers, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid, William Jefferson, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, John Murtha... the List is endless of Democrats that would not qualify for senior command in the Military.
Due to the Seniority System, the Leadership of the House and Senate are from some of the most economically mismanaged and corrupted political districts in our country. In my humble opinion, not one of the above mentioned people would be allowed to get a Top Secret clearance if they were judged according to the strict rules, regulations and background investigations that the men and women of our military have to go through.
NOT A SINGLE ONE....
But they are elected officials, so the rules don't apply... That's part of the problem. That needs to change. I propose a law that if a elected member of congress fails to meet the financial and ethical standards that are required for our Military personnel (From Seaman Recruit to Admiral) to get a Top Secret/SBI clearance (and that includes passing a Polygraph) then they should not be allowed to have access to ANY Classified information and that should be made public knowledge. If people in a district or state want to elect someone who fails the test, then go ahead. But that person should be segregated from the rest of Congress when classified information or data is discussed.
All the results of the investigations to the elected officials should be in the public domain so that impartial and uninterested parties can pass proper judgement. Spider-man rule: "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility"
We either insist all our congressmen and Senators pass this "Polygraph" ethics reform bill or pass a term limits bill. One or the other, but they choose.
That's One Way to Get Term Limits!
(And for all you people who want to tell me "Rangel and Murtha are Vets!", I say so what..so was Duke Cunningham and he is in the slammer)
Yeah, it's a pipe dream... but desperate times call for desperate measures...

This is like deja vu all over again.
Take Note of this Number: 1,882. That's the number of banks that are rated as failing by Christopher Whalen, managing director at research firm Institutional Risk Analytics.
Nouriel 'Dr. Doom' Roubini, the New York University professor who two years ago predicted the global financial crisis, said the risk of a double-dip recession for the global economy is rising due to the decline in monetary and fiscal stimulus.
On a positive note, Fed Must Make Public Reports on Emergency Loans, U.S. Judge Says. Ask yourself this question... If all this TARP money (aka Public Tax money) was properly spent, why is the Fed and the Administration trying to avoid public inspection?
Much of the current Market Pop is driven by the Financials and Energy (Oil), not by companies that make something (like cars, Fridges, Washing machines, Computers). In other words the Stock market is rising because of stock manipulation (that's what Big Financials do) and spiking Oil prices.
Doesn't this sound a lot like last year, before the great credit freeze of 2008?
"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

"The Emperor Has No Clothes!"
No one, to my knowledge, has properly accounted for the TARP funds and where it all went. In addition, no one on either side of the aisle in Congress want to acknowledge that despite the pumping of almost a TRILLION dollars into the banking system and with the Federal Funds Target rate at or near 0%, a large portion of our banks are desperately trying to hide the fact that they are, quite simply, broke.
Sooner or later, the truth of our nation's finances are going to rock us to our core. The day of reckoning can be delayed by the profligate spending that is occurring now, but that will just increase the damage done to our country when that day does comes (and it will!). The Political party that first acknowledges this fact and stands ready to make the hard choices to put the U.S. back on even financial keel (that means Transparency, accountability and willingness to prosecute major players in the Financial and Political world), will be the dominant party for the next 20 years.
A warning to my fellow Republicans: Because of the utter incompetence of Obama administration so far, we stand a chance of regaining some semblance of power during the 2010 election. If we come to power without first raising the alarm about how damaged our nations finances are... WE WILL BE BLAMED FOR IT.
My fellow Republicans: We need to be on the forefront of this issue BEFORE we regain Congress or the Presidency so we can inoculate ourselves from most of the blame. Above all, we Republicans need fresh faces to represent us when we offer solutions. The Congressional class of 1994 was a failure in the long run, because they became what they fought against. The same old Washington Merry-Go-Round won't work anymore. The people who allowed this to happen and participated in this fraud need to be identified and brought to justice. Bernie Madoff wasn't the only bad guy out there conning the American public. There a TRILLION other reasons to think there are more people involved in this crime. Republicans, you have been warned. Ignore this issue at your political peril.
And now: A short Primer on the Credit Crisis from Jonathon Jarvis:
The Crisis of Credit Visualized from Jonathan Jarvis on Vimeo.
Snalin' Arlen Specter: Hypocrisy personified
I wrote is about here last week
I suspect the only reason Arlen is doing this is because he sees his 30 plus years in the Senate coming to an abrupt end next year due to his embracing a single payer system.
Was there ever a more hypocritical, self serving, duplicitous Senator ever to grace the halls of congress than this sorry excuse for a politician? He is the poster boy for term limits.
I'm not mentioning Kennedy because he is dying... His day is Done.... Snalin' Arlen remains...
Note to All Republican Candidates and Tea Parties: Beat these issues like a Drum!
With revenue dropping, joblessness rising , more people just plain "Dropping off the Grid" and surviving on the underground economy and food stamps, I guarantee you, the deficit will get even bigger.
Also...I ask you the question. What is the true status of the balance sheet of many of our American Banks. Are they solvent or are they underwater and was this massive bailout, started under Bush/Paulson and voted for by Obama, a desperate (and failed) attempt to hide this fact from the American people?
What would be the results of an open, transparent audit of many of our major banks? Forget about the "stress test" results. That was smoke and mirrors. We , the American people, deserve an open, honest assessment of the institutions that have taken our tax dollars in TARP funds or taken our paychecks as deposits. To all you Tea Party people...focus on this one issue and you will get what you are after. Smaller Government that is forced to live within its means.

Allen Boyd has a "D'oh!" moment
A reminder:
1) Boyd Supports Nancy Pelosi as speaker
2) Boyd voted for TARP
3) Boyd voted for Porkulus
4) Boyd voted for the 2009 "Son of Porkulus" budget
5) Boyd supported Bailouts of the Auto industry
6) Boyd voted for "Cap and Trade"
7) Boyd supported and voted for Obama in 2008.
Then, Boyd comes home and finds People are scared and PISSED. Suddenly, Boyd is a "Bluedog" again and has issues with the democratic health care bill...
I hereby wave "BS" flag.
Too little, Too late. Like I said, in 2010 and 2012, you're either of Republican for Small Government or you were one of those Democrats who practiced and voted for economic suicide. Boyd, you belong in the latter....
Fellow Republicans that have a "Bluedog" as their representative... cut them no slack. They are full partners in this economic mess. They own it, so make them pay...
People: This is Unsustainable...it is Just Plain Madness
The American Republic is going down the same path blazed by Wiemar Germany and Zimbabwe. This is madness.
Obama drops this as he jets off to that most elite of getaways, Martha's Vineyard and is completely buffered from the press so he doesn't have to answer any questions.
The ugly truth of the matter, is that they are still probably underestimating the debt we are tacking on to our economy.
I am not an economist (I would be the first to admit this) but I am a student of History and if we continue down this path, we, and more importantly our children, will have a shattered economy to try to make our way in.
If you want to see what happens to a Economy that fails it's people, look no further than to Mexico, where private armies, fueled by Drug Lords, are challenging the central government and, more times than not, winning. They are already operating in the U.S., and they will only grow, as an underground economy supplants a normal economy that can't meet the financial stability that it citizens need and want.

Lockerbie Convict Returns to Jubilant Welcome ..
Money Quote:
Over ferocious American objections (emphasis mine), Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, the only person convicted in the 1988 Lockerbie jet bombing, flew home to a jubilant welcome in Libya on Thursday night after the Scottish government ordered his release on compassionate grounds.
Obama can't even get people who speak English to listen to him. Our foreign policy is one of apologies, blather and a Secretary of State still pissed at her husband and is rapidly declining into total impotence...
The victims of this bastard deserve better... Western Civilization deserves better...
Feedback from my Congressman!
Quote:
I am Congressman Miller’s health care aide and I wanted to respond to your August 7th email regarding H.R. 3400 versus H.R. 3200. There is not a good side-by-side comparison of only these two bills, but the Kaiser Foundation put together a very useful side-by-side chart of a number of competing proposals, including HR 3200 and HR 3400. I’ve attached it here. I’m also attaching a highly detailed breakdown of HR 3400, section-by section, that may provide some useful information. You can also look at the summary of the bill on Congressman Miller’s website http://jeffmiller.house.gov/
Please let me know if you have any further questions or if I can be of further
help.

Below are links to the two documents. Both are quite lengthy, but of the two I suggest reading one breaking down the House Republicans response to the Democrat's Bill H.R 3200 (The Republican Proposed response is H.R. 3400)
Here is the breakdown of the Republican Bill. As an aside, unlike the Democrats bill, the Republicans take on Tort reform. If I had my "druthers" I would make it the center piece of the bill and be a bit more draconian in my initial demands on the "John Edwards" of the world, but hey, it's a start.
Here is the Kaiser Foundation breakdown of all the myriad versions of health care floating around. What is evident at first glance is the sheer size of this condensed review of the competing health bills. Rule of thumb: the more complex the bill, the worse it is. For example, the Democrat bill, H.R. 3200, is over a THOUSAND PAGES. In contrast, the Republican Bill (H.R. 3400) is just under 250 pages. That should tell you something. In the military, we had a saying.."K.I.S.S" -- "Keep it Simple Stupid". Those plans that passed the "KISS" test usually were the best.
Many Thanks to Congressman Miller and his Staff for the documents. If I had any advice, I would suggest we get more aggressive in getting our message out and hammer the opposition for being in the back pocket of the "John Edwards" faction of the Democratic party.
It's 4:55 CDT ...and in the next few hours, Obama may win on Healthcare unless you act
We need to get this information to you regarding the "Gang of Six".
They are having a conference call tonight to discuss the health care bill.
Please call each one and tell them to ditch the bill, or at least not to
give in to those who want a government run system.
The contact information is below. The first number is the D.C. office, and the second is the primary office in each district. Since they are in district, that is where I will focus my calls.

All You folks who have emailed me and said you agree with my writings but that no one is listening in DC... I say to you that THEY WILL listen, BUT ONLY IF YOU CALL AND EMAIL. As I have stated earlier, the Democrats have been knocked back on their heels, but don't under estimate them. Obama's attempt to take over health care is nowhere near over. Republicans! Never, Ever Give Up
GRASSROOTS: Send this Message to Your Congressman if he is a Republican: Hold the Line. To compromise now is to let the opposition win. If your Congressman is a "Blue Dog" Democrat or one in a conservative district: let them know they side with Obama, Pelosi and Reid at their political peril.
Here is what I posted back in May when many thought we Republicans were through...Download and listen to the words of a truly Great Man who endured the political wilderness for years as he vainly tried to awaken his sleeping countrymen to the danger that was rising in the East. They turned to him just in time. Remember his call, never ever surrender!
I know things are bleak nationally for us Conservatives and small government Republicans, so I am posting this to remind you that people have faced worse perils. Imagine, it's mid June, 1940. Your major Ally has collapsed in the face of a historic onslaught by the most advanced and aggressive military force in the history of the planet. You are alone, a small island facing a power of epic proportions. You literally have an Army with no weapons and an Air Force, while modern, nowhere near the size of the enemy's. You are, in effect, a sitting duck and you know it. So what do you do? You step up and deliver this masterpiece of defiance against all odds. By God, he had me believing in their position after hearing this and I know from history (and by the speaker's own admission later in the war) that Great Britain was ripe for the taking. But his People believed him and perhaps so did one very important, yet evil, German. The rest is history. The lesson in this: Never, ever surrender.

Boyd featured on CNN dissing health care plan
FYI: Co-ops are just another way for the federal government to get into the rest of our health care... It is the "nose of the camel under the tent".. Libs are resorting to Co-op talk since the public has so far balked on a government run plan. Rep. Boyd insults our intelligence by trying to claim otherwise.
For Rep. Boyd... You voted for TARP, you voted for Porkulus, you voted for "Cap and Trade" and you voted for the bloated 2009 budget. On top of that, you support Nancy Pelosi as speaker. As long as a Democrat holds your seat, the better the odds are that Nancy Pelosi stays speaker. You, Mr. Boyd, have (whether you like it or not) forever joined yourself to her hip. No fancy tap dance on health care is going to hide that fact. And please, don't call yourself a "Blue Dog Democrat".
In 2010, there ain't no such thing as a "Blue Dog" ...either you are a Democrat or a Republican. Period.
As way of Solidarity with District 2 in Florida, I will publish any Republican candidate's essay as to why they should be your District 2 replacement on 2010.
Rep. Boyd, you will be also given the chance to respond, unedited. (but not un-commented on)..
Same goes for any candidate running for the U.S. House in District 1 in Florida. Your words will be posted unedited and free of any interference...
I am Sending this Blog Post to every County Chairman of the Republican party in District 1 and 2, as well as directly to Rep. Boyd's office.

Not Enough Money Or Time To Defend Detroit's Poor
Is there a more dysfunctional, irreparable city in the United States than Detroit? And is there a city more dominated by the Democrats than Detroit? And is there a more mismanaged state than Michigan? I mean, even Chicago is at least fun to be in on Saint Patrick's Day...
I say, Detroit needs more federal aid. Let's shut down NPR and divert the money to Detroit. It won't make a damns worth of difference in Detroit but it will free up more bandwidth for talk radio and free up a channel or two for more Sports on cable and satellite.

Bottom Line Folks: They Might be talking of taking out the "Public Option" but they haven't said a word about Tort Reform

A few news items just to remind ourselves that when properly roused, flyover country can make a difference in the political debate:
1) Sebelius: Government-run insurance plan 'not essential'. Instead, she says that they are looking into "non-profit insurance cooperatives" ....Hmmm, Where have I heard the word "cooperatives" before??? ...hmmm Oh, yeah....Now I remember: The USSR. Result: Mass Starvation
2) White House appears ready to drop 'public option'. Uhhh...is there ANY mention of tort reform? The answer: A resounding "NO"....
People: The Obama Administration are trying to bait and switch us... Here is where we keep up the pressure and go for the jugular. Until tort reform takes center stage in ANY Health Care reform package..We fight it, tooth and nail. Until the United States of America learns how to rein in the "John Edwards" of the U.S. Legal system, then health care costs will continue to skyrocket.
Obama has gone out of his way to demonize Doctors and the Insurance companies (he stopped going after Big Pharma when they offered him 150 million dollars of money for Advertisement) but has not said one word about going after the lawyers.
To rip a phrase from the left "No Tort reform, No Peace!"....

Making 300 grand a year and calling it rough times
Here is a taste:
But she's months overdue for a visit to her colorist, a telltale sign of economic distress for a woman such as Steins. The smell in the basement could mean a crack in the septic line; unlike a $200 hair appointment, a plumber will be in the thousands. And from the breakfast table comes one more urgent need from a 10-year-old.
"At my birthday party, every single girl had a phone," says Katie Steins, making the case that an enV2 phone with matching cover is just standard in her crowd. Steins kneels down to face her daughter. "If you continue to tell the world how undesirable your phone is -- it's not a flip, it's not a swivel, it's not an LG -- you will not
have a phone."Steins takes a breath. Life in this $2.5 million house was built on the premise of two incomes, not the income of a divorced mother of three in a tanked economy. Her property taxes are $35,000 a year, the nanny is $40,000 and the gardener is $500 a month.
And it goes on from there... Evidently, this little section of New York is where all the Wall Street brokers and traders made their homes, and like the times, built and lived beyond their means. And we are to feel sorry for this woman?
Here's some advice darlin'
a) Sell the house; b) ditch the nanny and gardener; c) move in to a lot smaller home; d) buy your kids clothes and food at Wal-Mart; f) Cut your hair and let it go gray; and e) Start saving money. If this isn't clear enough, call Dave Ramsey.

Obama without a Teleprompter
For Stocks, September May Be The Cruelest Month
It was just a year ago, all the chaos of Lehman Brothers, the TARP, John McCain suspending his campaign (one of the great political Bozo moves of all time) and the unraveling of the insular world of the economic "Masters of the Universe" came tumbling down...
Obama would have you believe this gigantic bubble burst is all in the past and all is well.
FYI: We had the fifth largest bank failure in the world occur yesterday afternoon.

It doesn't mean people don't want health reform, they just don't want Obama's health reform.

And keep this one salient fact/question in the back of your mind: If a health reform bill does not address tort reform that reduces the ambulance chasers of the world ability to milk the system..It ain't serious about health reform.

"The Market Ticker" called this one to me PERSONALLY, days ago
I had a phone call with the brains behind "The Market Ticker" early this week. He specifically mentioned that this bank, Colonial, was in "deep Kim-Chi" and was broke, along with a few others.
I was in the process of picking his brain about what the future of the economy looks like. One issue he made clear to me is that banks, in general, are overstating the amount of the true value of their outstanding mortgages they hold. Example: A bank holds a million dollar mortgage on a house that the owner bought with almost nothing down. So far, the owner has paid down 100 grand of the principle and still owes 900 thousand.
In the "Real World" the actual house price, after the market collapse, is now only worth $500,000. The Owner, even if he sold the house, would still be on the hook for $400,000. Hence the term "Being Underwater". However, when the bank declares it's assets to the Feds, it still says it has a mortgage worth one million dollars, when in reality, the bank is really out 400 grand if the owner defaults. Multiply this by thousands of mortgages, and what you have is a bank that is, for all practical purposes, Bankrupt...and is hiding this fact, aided and abetted either with the complicity or by the negligence of the Federal Banking authorities.
Colonial is only one bank. "The Market Ticker" is convinced that this problem is systemic throughout the ENTIRE banking system...which means that we have YET to see the end of this financial meltdown...we are only at the beginning.
If "The Market Ticker" is correct, there is open, pervasive corruption in the United States Banking system and the Federal Government's head economic teams are in an unholy, incestuous relationship with them, frantically trying to hide this fact by massive bailouts and fleecing of the taxpayer to cover their tracks.
This is scary...We need to insist our elected Representatives at all levels of the government investigate and find out if this is actually the case. That means, we the people, must hold them accountable to do their job, or fire them at the first opportunity for someone who will.
UPDATE: This story is DrudgeReport's lead story now. Here is more detail on the Colonial bank collapse. Don't for a second think this recession is anywhere near over....

FINALLY, Something for Republicans to assist us when we want to talk facts!
Republicans: Here is a new tool for you to use. It's A darn good start (finally) by our United States GOP Congressional Caucus. It is a searchable database to track where all the government spending is going and to what projects, district by district it is going to. Be sure to watch the introductory video on the page to see how it works.
I'm going to ask our Okaloosa County Republican Committeeman and Committeewoman to tell our State Party Officials that this is an excellent tool for their professional staff to mine data and provide Grassroots feedback with coherent, organized and concise information to help us spread our message and to confront the opposition with.
It’s a good start, but party volunteers who have to work for a living don't have the time to give this new tool justice. We need our dedicated, professional State GOP Staff and National GOP Staff at the RNC to give us leg up with this powerful data search technology.
First, bookmark the above link and then tell your State GOP and the RNC that this tool:
a) Exists
b) Is a good source of opposition research
c) We need their help to use it properly and to exploit it to our maximum benefit
Folks, I cannot emphasize enough , considering today's political atmosphere, how important this new data tool is to us in the Republican Party. Spread the word.

It just goes to prove, The NY Times is not a serious source of news... This crap wouldn't get published in a small town weekly local newspaper, yet they pay Dowd big bucks for this trite nonsense...
Promoted: Manipulating the Unemployment Numbers
Hmm. In June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the civilian labor force was 154,926,000 people. In July, 796,000 of those were taken out of their definition of the workforce, and thus their unemployment calculations for this month, because they have stopped looking for work "because they believe no jobs are available for them." Ten percent of the June workforce would be 15.4 million, 1 percent would be 1.5 million, and so 796,000 is roughly one half of one percent. In other words, BLS took .5 percent of what you and I would consider unemployed and took them out of their total. And with that, unemployment went down one tenth of one percent.Of course, if you take the July number of unemployed, 14.5 million, and add that 796,000 of discouraged workers, you get a total of 15,296,000. In a work force of July’s number of 154,504,000, that’s an unemployment rate of 9.9 percent. In a work for of June’s number of 154,926,000, that’s an unemployment rate of 9.8percent. UPDATE: Apparently we're in the Economy of the Beast, with 6.66 million lost jobs over 19 months of contraction.

'End-of-Life' Counseling Intensifies Health Care Debate
I recently lost both my parents within 5 months of each other. My father, a physician, died of cancer. He was in charge of his treatment from the day he was diagnosed. He and his personal oncologist treated the cancer in the most practical way possible until it became apparent he was terminal. Then Dad took over the entire process. He was a radiation oncologist by trade so he and cancer were old foes. The day it was apparent that he was hopelessly terminal, he essentially started to shut himself down. He started fasting and reduced his intake of fluids. He knew that cancer is a greedy bastard; Any nourishment you take goes first to support the cancer and the pain. So he knew that the less you ate and drank, the less pain you would have. My Dad took one half of a hydrocodone tablet at night to help him sleep. That was it. He was above all a cerebral man, and when he was awake, he wanted to be mentally all there. I watched my father control his final days in awe of the man. He was, in the end, stoicism personified. I was never more proud to be his son.
My mother, on the other hand, had been dying for well over 20 years, and was never hesitant to tell my sisters and I that fact whenever possible. She had COPD from years of smoking, so when she was diagnosed with it in 1987, well, that was that, she was dying. However, due to modern medicine and her own innate stubbornness, she managed to continue to do yard work, be around for all of her children to have grandchildren, see one her grandchildren become an officer in the U.S.Army and another start college. She watched birds and shot squirrels that invaded her bird feeder. A little over two tears ago, she had a fall and slammed here head against a table. She was helo'd to Pensacola and, miracles of miracles, she survived (I asked her later how was the Helo ride and she said it was the worst damn helicopter ride ever, but the people on it were nice....It was the first and only 'copter ride Mom ever made, but I digress.) However, she was never the same. The slow fade of old age kicked up quite a few notches. Last December she said that her time was near..we laughed it off, but this time my sisters and I (and her Doctor) weren't so sure. In February, her lungs started to fail. She was put in the hospital, but she knew this was it. She said she wanted to go home and let hospice take over. Unlike Dad, she took the morphine, and for a few short days, we had our old mom back..combative, opinionated, sarcastic and just plain tough. But she knew. The last time I spoke to her was her last night. It was late and I told her I was going home and would be back in the morning and I would see her then. She looked me square in the eye, and in her most sarcastic voice said "yeah...riighttt...", then she smiled and looked out the window to enjoy the moonlight, made beautiful to her because the morphine had finally stopped the pain. She knew. She slipped into a coma the next morning and that afternoon she died in my sisters and my arms. It was, for lack of better words, a holy moment for me.
My Dad's way of dying taught me there can be dignity in death; my Mom's way showed me that there is a power greater than man when faced with that time.
We don't need bureacrats to help us die.

The Media and Urban Elites look at us plain folks with disdain... Never forget that when you read the AP/Reuters/Big Media. These people need to feel superior because that's what they've been taught...

I want our GOP Senate leadership to raise hell about this. It is this kind of "protecting our own" mentality that crosses party lines in the Senate and House that cause regular Americans to give up on the GOP.

Has anyone done a detailed breakdown of the Democratic healthcare Bill (H.R. 3200)and the Republican response (H.R. 3400) that can be sent to county GOP Chairs and GOP rank and file to read and use when dealing with the opposition?
Thank You

The Market Ticker comes up with a Real Health Care Plan
Question: Does the Republican House bill H.R. 3400 reflect any of these ideas? I'm going to Email the RNC and Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) and see if anyone responds....
Don't hold your breath... So far they have failed the grassroots who are hungry for facts and details on Healthcare, cap and trade, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I want these organizations to be effective...but I'm going to pester them until they start by acting as our "Brain Trust". We need organizational support to confront the Unions and the DNC/ACORN.

Folks, If this doesn't scare the HELL of you, I don't know what will
To be an Economist who can then turn around and take this information and separate the "wheat from the chaff" and put it into words lugs like myself can understand, is a rare gift.
I was told of the blog "The Market Ticker" at the RedState gathering last week. It's owner and editor lives right here locally and is read nationwide. He has uncovered facts today that deserves national attention and should set off alarm bells across this land of ours. Read about it here.
This is BAD NEWS folks...I feel it in my gut... I'm sending this link to CNBC/FoxBusiness/FoxNews
If the MSM was doing its job, this would be the headlines in Tomorrow's papers....
The Democrats are Starting to Fight back on Health Care
RedState has a fun and non-violent way to confront these Union Thugs when you encounter them. Sing the "Look for the Union Label" jingle from years ago....
That said.. Once again I go to the RNC and RPOF websites and find no analysis or breakdown on the Democrats proposed health bill. The Hillsborough Republican Party put out a good sheet on the health care bill and talking points, but I expect detailed, footnoted, serious research (with page numbers and line counts!) on HR 3200 from our professional party people. Nothing flusters a Democratic congressman more than hard cold facts that prove he doesn't know of what he speaks. Someone with more firepower than me should complain to our Party Reps on this. The DETAILED INFORMATION can't get here quick enough....
Here is the Hillsborough County GOP Talking Points for citizens (just in case you run across a stray Democratic Congressman lurking about):
Below we have compiled, from many sources, talking points to drive home the fact that the American people agree that Healthcare Reform is needed, but not the massive government-run health care plant that Congress is now considering.
Congress should:
1. Enact legislation giving families control of their health care by making insurance
plans portable;
2. Reform the tax system to allow the same tax incentives for all insurance purchasers (employers and the self employed should be able to deduct healthcare expenses;
3. Reform the litigation system to decrease inappropriate malpractice and liability claims against all facets of the medical profession and industry to reduce costs;
4. Allow the free market to deliver real competition;5. Make sure that decisions about healthcare stay between the patient and doctor;
6. Make sure that healthcare remains a right for an individual to choose the healthcare that is right for them;
7. Make sure that healthcare dollars stay with the patient, not lobbyists or special interests;
8. Healthcare should reflect the health of the individual, not everyone grouped together;
9. The right to spend our own healthcare dollars should be protected and preserved;
10. Realize that the healthcare belongs to the individual, not Washington. We must:
We must tell them that we do not wish to pay less for our care which will potentially cause us to have to wait weeks for tests and months for treatments. This is
unacceptable.
We must tell them that it could "lead to the government rationing care, making people stand in line and denying treatment like they do in other countries with nationalized healthcare." This is unacceptable.
We must tell them that Obama wants to "put Washington bureaucrats in charge of healthcare." This is unacceptable. We want to put medical professionals in charge, and patients need to be an equal partner.
We must tell them that we know that there is a crisis and healthcare reform is needed, but we do not agree with bureaucrats putting themselves between us and our doctors. This is unacceptable.
We must tell them that "time is not on our side" and that government run healthcare will result in delayed and denied treatment, procedures and/or medications. This is unacceptable.
We must tell them that we believe government run healthcare will lower our quality of care. This is unacceptable. We must tell them that in countries with government run healthcare, politicians make the healthcare decisions, they decide if you will get the procedure you need, or if you are disqualified because the treatment is too expensive or because you are too old. This is unacceptable.
We must tell them that Healthcare quality is getting "the treatment you need, when you need it." Any other healthcare is unacceptable.
We must tell them that the standard of care is "not one size fits all." The government will establish a standard of care for all Americans. This is not acceptable. We want the "protection of the personalized doctor-patient relationship."
We must tell them that medicare is overrun with "waste, fraud and abuse." This is unacceptable. Medicare is government healthcare and 68 Billion is the estimated amount of fraud each year with Medicare. This is not how our healthcare should be run and it is unacceptable. The government is incompetent to run our healthcare.
We must tell them that if they pass this bill "119 million Americans could lose coverage they have today." Employers would have to drop private coverage regardless of individual preference. This is unacceptable.
While we acknowledge there is a crisis, government run healthcare is not the answer. It is unacceptable.
We have a system that rewards insurance companies for insuring people that are not sick and then we penalize them for insuring people that are. This is unacceptable.
"A Balanced common sense approach that provides assistance to those who truly needs it and keeps healthcare patient-centered rather than government-centered for everyone." We need more access to more treatments, more doctors with less interference from insurance companies, politicians and special interests.
We need to find immediate, measurable ways to make healthcare more accessible and affordable without jeopardizing quality, individual choice and personalized care. We must protect the doctor-patient relationship.
It is not time to play politics with healthcare, it is the time for all of us to work
together to achieve what matters most. We need to ask our Congressmen and women to oppose this healthcare reform as it now stands. We need to ask them to "commit to the principle that doctors and patients should be making healthcare decisions, not Washington."
Why is it that we have a 50% higher cure rate for cancers than anywhere else in the
world? Why is it that in America if you get breast cancer, you are into your treatment within three weeks and in the rest of the world it is four, six or nine months? That care is unacceptable and we need to tell our Congressman, if they vote for it, we will vote against them.
Not a bad start, but our National and State Political Pros should be doing this AND giving us a line by line breakdown of the facts about H.R. 3200. Youtube and TV Ads are great... But they don't work at "townhalls" ... facts do. Like I said...someone with more firepower than me should complain to our Party Reps on this. Time is of the essence.

A Message to the Tea Party Movement
Also, unfortunately, the invited Republican Representatives (including yours truly) were unable to speak because of the event being called short for weather.
One issue I think needs to be recognized by both the Tea Party folks and the Republicans is that if they want to make a difference during the next election and in 2012, they need each other.
Tea party folks who are independents, libertarians or even Democrats must acknowledge the fact that the only organization that stands a prayer of stopping the Obama agenda and the current regimes in the House and Senate is the Republican Party, PERIOD!!!
There is no, and I repeat NO, organization that has the membership, the infrastructure and the candidates to take on the Democrats in 2010 and 2012 except the GOP. Tea Party folks must realize that if they want to make a difference, that the only path open to them to effect change is to get the Republicans on board with their philosophy of smaller, more limited government.
And guess what, after the spankings of 2006 and 2008, the Republicans get it! It's the Democrats and left who are out their calling you names, disparaging your ideas, your hopes. You get nothing but support from 99% of the GOP.
Republicans everywhere acknowledge that they strayed from the path of Reagan's vision of a less intrusive and expensive government. Some of it was due to a President more absorbed with fighting a war than curbing the Federal bureaucracy; but it was also due to incumbent Republicans failing their constituents and acting more in their self interests of getting re-elected and maintaining the "Status quo". Any "Republican volunteer" (Which is 99.95% of the Republican infrastructure) will agree with you and are as frustrated and hurt with how our elected Republicans lost their way these last 10 years.
We Republicans are finding our way back to the right path. Being in the political wilderness has rejuvenated our party and has driven home to our politicians that we will no longer support "squishy" Republicans afraid to stand up for what we feel is right.
Are there Republicans still out there that are nothing but "Democratic Lite"? Yes. Are these Republicans becoming less of a driving force in our party? Yes. We are all mortals and no organization is perfect, but if Tea Parties want to be heard, there is only one major party listening and respecting them... The Republican Party.
We Republicans are coming back to our conservative roots. We strayed off the path and have been punished. But the Democrats have sold their collective soul to what Margaret Thatcher called "The Loony Left". There you will find no succor, no encouragement and, most importantly, no respect.
We Republicans respect and hear you. Together we can make a hell of a team. Give us a shot...You might be pleasantly surprised in 2010.

H.R. 3400: The Republican Answer to the Democrats on Healthcare
Notice Jeff Miller's name near the top of sponsors. Give him a "Atta Boy!"
Once more, I've sent this to the RNC and RPOF for their analysis and help to get the republican message up.
We should have talking Points at our fingers with regards to this.

The Democratic Healthcare Bill: H.R. 3200: Read it and Weep
I have emailed a copy to the RNC and RPOF and asked that their Professional Staffers, funded by OUR Donations, pick apart this Bill ASAP and provide analysis and talking points for those of us opposed to this effort. They should post their results on their web page so constituents can ask hard, specific questions to their congressmen and senators on the bill.
We Republicans should not have to go to "The Huffington Post" for a breakdown.
Email the RNC and RPOF and tell them to get off the pot.
Our grassroots efforts is about making our party work for us again, as well as stopping the machine/thug politics of Obama/Pelosi and Reid.
You should vote for your Senator on how he stands on the Issues, Not on the Money he can raise to campaign
Charlie Crist supported Obama's Stimulus Bill, just like Arlen Specter, who abandoned the GOP for his own political self interests.
Here's a look at a recent Arlen town hall meeting:
Do the good people of Florida REALLY want a man who agrees with such a weasel as "Snarlin Arlen" Specter as their Senator?
Ammo for when you meet your Democratic congressman or Senator
Can't say you weren't warned.... With the Left, the ends justify the means... In this case...the use of lies by Obama... You got to give Barney Frank credit...At least he is honest about his goal...
Didn't we hear this same story in the 1970's?
Well, I got some idea where some UNTAPPED oil is... In the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska (ANWAR), off the US West Coast, shale oil in the US and plenty of Hydrocarbon power in coal....In the US!
Also, we just discovered a massive natural gas field in Louisiana and nuclear power is limitless. Just re-open Yucca Mountain where we have already spent BILLIONS in infrastructure to safely house any nuclear waste that cannot be reprocessed.
Enough already on the scare tactics....
Well..."D'oh!"
Did anyone in their right mind not think this was not coming? Of course they are going to raise taxes on everyone. That happens when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, and believe me, it won't stop there
There are going to increases booze taxes, capital gains taxes, income taxes, energy taxes, new taxes disguised as fees, new taxes on booze, fast foods, colas and other things the government considers "bad" for you...
If Obama was a Republican and this reversal in of the campaign rhetoric occurred, the press would be howling bloody murder (ask Bush 41)...lets see what kinda reaction "the One" gets...
The MSM might not make a big deal of this, but the "new media" should...
