Folks: have a Happy New Year

I've been under the weather for the past week, but the end is finally in sight... I expect my Blogging to pickup come Saturday and Sunday and I should be hitting on all cylinders by the 4th.

2010 is here!  November 2nd is just 10 months away.

And for us members of the Marco Rubio cabal: the August 24th Florida primary is just 7.75 months away.

And for us insurgent Republicans: January 9th is 10 days away. Yours Truly will be waiting with baited breath on that day!

From The Orlando Sentinal: The Gameplan for Ousting Jim Greer

I urge all Florida Republican County Chairs, State Committeemen and Committeewomen to try to have a meeting of their Republican Executive Committees and to poll as many active grassroots Republicans prior to this Special State Committee Meeting in Orlando Jan. 9. The issue is Jim Greer and his continued chairmanship of the RPOF.

Chairman Greer called the meeting to give members the floor and to state all grievances and hopefully clear the air; but he says that any vote to fire him as State Party Chairman would be against the state party’s constitution and rules.

My question is this: Why bother to have the meeting if direct, no-nonsense action for the good of the party cannot be taken? Mr. Allen Cox, Vice Chairman, RPOF has, in this article from the Orlando Sentinel, laid out in detail how in accordance with State Party Rules and Robert's Rules of Order, this Special Session can vote out Mr Greer. Mr Cox has also graciously recused himself from the chairing process (As Mr. Greer MUST Do) and allow for a temporary impartial chair be appointed to oversee the process.

Mr. Greer, will no doubt, counter with the argument that Robert's Rules of Order state:
"an officer can be deposed from office by following the procedures for dealing with offenses outside a meeting; that is, an investigating committee must be appointed, it must prefer charges, and a formal trial must be held."
In plain English, before any vote on Chairman Greer's removal, a proper investigation and trial must be held.

Mr. Cox, however, in the Orlando Sentinel Article states:
"Due to the extensive media attention already given to all aspects of the Chairman’s role in the RPOF, and recognizing the high visibility of the Chairman’s arguments and protestations of all criticism, the need for an “investigative committee” would appear superfluous and unnecessary at this point. The central question is simply, what is the will of the State Committee, as determined by secret ballot, on whether or not a rescission of the Chairman’s election shall be affirmed."
Mr Cox then goes on to argue that Florida Statues supersede party law and removal of the Chairman by the special session clearly legal. Read the article for full details.

Both arguments have merits, but, in this Republican's mind, the ultimate question is this:
"For this Special State Committee Meeting, what action must be decisively taken that best serves the Republican Party Of Florida and puts it in the best possible position for the 2010 elections?"
The answer is obvious. Chairman Greer's status as party chairman must be settled at this meeting. For Chairman Greer to deny the Special State Committee Meeting the right (indeed it is their duty) to quickly and permanently settle this issue on 9 January 2010 shows he is more concerned with his own personal well being than that of the RPOF. A chairman with this mindset is totally unacceptable to me and, I suspect, the vast majority of everyday Republicans.

I am a single voice who decided after a military career and then a civilian life of limiting my political participation to voting and donating money to become politically active after the TARP fiasco led by Bush and the breathtakingly irresponsible spending of the Democrats and the Obama Administration.

The one rule I made for myself was not to tolerate "business as usual" in the Republican Party. Somewhere along the way, Republicans started being part of the problem vice being the solution. It would have been easy to join the a "Tea Party" and say a "Pox on all your houses" but I still have faith that the party of Ronald Reagan can reclaim its soul. It won't be easy and there will be setbacks (Read my Blog and my futile fight against Florida "Light Rail"), but the first thing we Republicans must do it is to quit acting like Democrats.

A honest Republican Party requires and open and impartial accounting of party funds and not tolerate the abuse of said funds. A honest Republican Party encourages open and frequent debate between Republicans vying for the same office during primary season and full, open discussion of ideas. A honest and dedicated Republican Party structure provides its members the desperately needed digest of information and data drawn from all possible sources so logical, common sense arguments can be made on the issues by all Republicans in order to convince the Independent and Conservative voter that the Republican way is the right way.

Above all, Republicans must recognize the danger that out of control spending represented by The Obama Administration's "Stimulus" bill poses to the health and well-being of our country. Republicans should rightly question the principles of any Republican that energetically supported this spending orgy. (The same goes for the Democrat healthcare plan.)

Does this mean I think Charlie Crist is not the best candidate for US Senator? Yes, it does.

Am I part of a vast treasonous cabal out to promote Marco Rubio by discrediting Jim Greer? No, I am a one man operation blog. But I have not been shy about taking on Jim Greer's performance as RPOF Chairman. Go here for my opinion of Jim Greer's Chairmanship.

Do I think Jim Greer has abused party funds? I think so, but we won't know until a fair and full audit is made of RPOF funds (which Jim Greer resists having).

Do I think the Party Website (http://www.rpof.org/) has been hijacked by Charlie Crist and Jim Greer and is now a tool for the entrenched Republican establishment vice being a site for all valid Republican Candidates to have a voice? Yes, I do.

Do I think the same of the "Drive the Discussion"  (http://www.drivethediscussion.com/) website?  Yes. This site is not being used properly or to its full potential. I think it is a waste of money and effort in its present format. If anyone is getting paid to maintain and manage the site, he or she should be fired.

Do I think this interparty war must stop? Yes, I do. The time and place to stop it is during Special State Committee Meeting (called by Chairman Greer!) in Orlando on 9 January, 2010. The optimal solution is for Mr. Greer to resign for the good of the party before this meeting. If he does not choose this honorable route, he should be fired on that day and new chairman elected.

However, regardless of the decision made about Chairman Greer's future, Republicans that are for honest government should insist on a full, fair and open audit of RPOF funds and keep insisting until said audit occurs. If we are going to make responsible financial management of the State and Country as a campaign issue in 2010, then we must first demonstrate that we are capable of responsible financial management of our own party funds. Period.

If Mr. Greer resists this, it will be just another of the many reasons for him to go.

Iran is on Fire and No one in the Administration is paying Attention

Iran's "Greens" (aka "The Good Guys who are tired of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs") are protesting in the Streets, and people are dying, including a nephew of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi.

The Obama administration policy towards Iran is one of rapprochement and appeasement.

Here are some pictures of Security Thugs hitting defenseless women with riot batons. Nothing says "Macho Islamic Fascist" better than beating up on women who pose absolutely no threat.

There have been reports of the regular Military, who have remained out of the protests, getting tired of the Current regime's reign of terror. However, if they keep a hands off approach vice injecting themselves into internal politics (The last time the Military did that was with the Shah), then expect the Revolutionary Guard, augmented with hired thugs from Hamas and Hezbollah, to keep up the pressure and, to quote Mao, "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun".

The United States is missing a once in a generation chance to be a force for good in Iran. All attempts with diplomacy (both by Europe and the US) to try to get Iran to obey the normal rules of a civilized country, to stop exporting and supporting radical Islam and terror and, above all, to stop their march towards a acquiring nuclear weapons have proven barren. Indeed, we have been played for the fool.

If the current regime manages to tamp down this popular revolt (such as the Chinese did over 20 years ago in Tiananmen Square) then it is time for more "pro-active" measures from us.

If the Greens win WITHOUT OUR HELP, they will still hold Obama and the US in contempt for refusing to help them in their hour of need.

One other observation, while some say that the Greens don't want to acquire Nukes, it may be too late for them to stop the development of the weapons. Iran is a sophisticated culture and has an entrenched bureaucracy that has a vested interest in keeping the weapons program going. Do not mistake this country for Afghanistan. The sheer amount or resources and people Iran has invested towards acquiring Nuke Weapons may prove too hard to stop regardless of who is in power.

As much as I hate to say it, the scenario that works best in the USA's interests is for the Greens to be temporarily beaten into submission and the Greens then deciding to take more violent means towards gaining political power. It wouldn't take much weapons support for this to happen. Remember, the military, at worst, have indicated that they prefer to remain neutral, but have not made it a secret that their sympathies lay with the Greens. So all, we (i.e., the US) need do is give the Greens the means to take on the Revolutionary Guard and their hired thugs. The Greens already MASSIVELY outnumber the Guard, so the arming of them would be trivial in type and cost.

I've already posted about this scenario here.

All it would take is the Obama Administration willing to do some real supporting of authentic "People's Revolutionary Movements" (Not like the Faux ACORN movement).

It won't happen, so expect within the next three years a) A Nuclear Armed Iran and b) Whoever is in Power there hating our guts.

UPDATE: Reports: Iran arrests activists, ups crackdown.  In the 1930's USSR, it was called "The Terror".  Our president remains secluded in Hawaii.  My God, if we don't stand up for these brave Kids (and their parents) then we have truly lost something as a nation.

This Comment alone should be grounds for Firing

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."

Huh?!? This woman must be on a different planet.  Republicans, Do your Job and go after her and the Administration hammer and tong on this issue and Napolitano's comment specifically.

DO NOT JUST SIT THERE AND LET THE DEMOCRATS BLOW THIS INCIDENT OFF.

Bring back the term "Global War on Terror"...

Jim Greer Goes Full Nixon: "I Am Not A Crook"

Here is a link to Jim Greer's "Cri de Coeur".

Treason? Treason? ..Get a grip man.

Gentle Warning? Is that a threat? Sounds like one to me...Here is some free advice: If you start using RPOF funds to settle personal vendettas, you are committing political suicide. Sooner or later, the RPOF books are going to be audited and sooner or later the truth will come out.

First: We have just experienced our former Republican Speaker of the House using party funds to take he and his family on a European jaunt and according to him, you refused his offer to pay back the party. Is this true? What other improper use of funds have occurred? The only way we will find out is a full and fair audit of RPOF funds. Period.

Second: It is established fact that you used RPOF funds to get massages at Hotels and it wasn't until you got caught that you paid back the money. My Question is: before you got caught, how many more Spa treatments to defoliate your backside did our funds pay for? The only way we will find out is a full and fair audit of RPOF funds. Period.

Our RPOF website is a shill for incumbents while it should be a free and open forum for all Republicans to use to disseminate and discuss ideas. Also, you are perceived by a substantial portion of the grassroots Republicans as Charlie Crist's bagman and doppelgänger. You are supposed to be Chairman of the Party, a neutral player whose main concern should be the recruiting of the best candidates and frugal caretaker and raiser of party funds. Your obvious partisanship for Governor Crist, coupled with your extravagant use of party funds is prima facie evidence that you have failed in your most basic of duties.

Your other party website, "Drive the Discussion" is a complete waste of party funds and resources. It appears to be a pet project for a few who really don't know how to properly exploit or use the new media to spread the word of the new Republican party. Tea Parties are sprouting up all over the state not only because of the Obama and the Democrat's monumental, wasteful spending of our tax dollars, but also because they feel that supposed party of small government and individual rights, the Republican party, no longer represents those ideals. And in Florida it is sorta hard to argue with them when they have a GOP Governor and GOP Party Chairman that supported the Obama Porkulus Bill. I know because, unlike you, I am actively talking to these Americans and am trying to convince them that there are Republicans out there who care about these issues. Meanwhile, you are using party funds to get facials and massages and send a select few and their family on world tours for no apparent reason.

Finally, the mere fact that you are unwilling to open up the RPOF books for a full, fair and OPEN audit speaks volumes. This is not the actions of a man who has nothing to hide.

Therefore I recommend that a full, fair and OPEN audit be conducted of RPOF funds by 29 January and that Allen Cox, Allison DeFoor, Peter Feaman, Bob Starr, Deborah Cox-Roush and Tony Dimatteo be part of the team that does the audit. I don't know these people from Adam, but since they have shown a willingness to question you, and you have publically "warned" them, then I say they can be trusted to report to the party grassroots the results of the audit. Feel free to nominate some of your cronies to assist, but in order for it to be believable, the above mentioned people MUST be part of the audit team.

If Republicans have learned anything from the elections of 2006 and 2008, it is business as usual will not cut it anymore. "Good Ole Boy" politics must become a thing of the past. Republicans must regain the mantle of being good stewards of the public's interest. Until you open up the RPOF books and PROVE you have been responsible in your management and spending of party funds, Grassroot Republicans will continue to protest your arrogant and spendthrift management of the RPOF and insist that you resign.

Iran is on Fire and No one in the MSM or the Administration is paying Attention

A quick search of all the Major MSM Online news sites shows only Fox is covering this HUGE story. Iran is in the throes of a major meltdown and possible revolution and the administration is doing NOTHING to assist these people who want to get rid of the current Thugocracy running the country.

For months now, the people of Iran have been willing to face beatings (and death) to protest against the mullahs and Ahmadinejad. Diane Sawyer (in her coming out interview as the new Anchor of ABC) has an interview with Ahmadinejad and the main subject is about the three idiot hikers that got themselves arrested in Iran.

The complete and total incompetence of our administration is on full view here. WHEN (not if) this regime falls, the new Iranian government will look at Obama and the United States and say "Thanks for Nothing...you were not there for us when we needed you".

Appeasement is the foundation of the Obama Administration when it comes to radical Islam. And, as history has shown, appeasement doesn't work when dealing with corrupt, perverted ideologies.

Allison DeFoor: Why Jim Greer must resign

Here is the link to the Article.

Greer MUST GO before the January 2010 RPOF meeting.

Dan Perrin at RedState has an Interesting Idea on How to Kill the Obamacare Bill

Here is a link to his plan.  What do the parliamentary experts Florida Republican Party think? Feedback Welcome.

Is it worth a shot? Does anyone think Senator LeMieux  ahs the guts to object to the appointment of the conferees??

The UN's Leading Climate Change Expert has the Same Qualifications as Al Gore: None

You can't make this stuff up.  It seems the UN's top Expert is just like Al Gore: totally unqualified to be the leading voice in support of "Climate Change" and making a financial killing, just like Al Gore.

It's time we started a petition to ask Al Gore to return his Nobel Prize, or change the category that he it got for to "Best Work of Fiction by a Political Hack"

As a Floridian, I am Ashamed of Our Senior Senator, Bill Nelson

In order to make his "Yes" vote on ObamaCare, Bill Nelson saw to it that three very heavily Democratic Counties (Brower, Dade, and Palm Beach) were exempt from cuts for their "Medicare Advantage". He didn't try to save this program for ALL Floridians, or even better "ALL Americans", but just for three key counties crucial to his eventual re-election. In this Link, Senator McCain, tries to get the same benefits for the all Seniors. The Democrats shot it down, of course.

With the 300 Million Dollars to Sen. Landrieu  (She brags about how she sold her vote..She seems proud of the fact she can be bought, sort of like the all these women bragging about sleeping with Tiger Woods) and some nonsensical language for Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson that apparently means more Federal Pork Dollars for Nebraska (Pro-Life issue was just for his public image and to hide the fact he was selling his vote for money) I have to ask this question to any Democrat Senator: Why don't you jump on the undecided bandwagon and wait for more money/pork to flow your way? You know Harry Reid and Obama will shell it out, no problem.

As for our Senator Bill Nelson, I expect that his special little deal for his three pet counties will die a quick death in conference or, if it survives, will be challenged in the courts as unconstitutional. Either way, when Senator Nelson runs for the Senate again, I expect all the Republicans in Florida's other 64 counties to remind voters how Senator Bill Nelson left them in the cold.

And for all you folks in other states who have Democrat Senators, ask them why they think Palm, Dade and Palm Beach counties are more important than counties in their own State.

Also folks, do me a favor.... If any of you guys are lawyers out there and you get the chance, it would be great if you could point out to me and other Republicans where there are areas in this bill that are ripe for challenge in Court. We need to insist to our GOP party structure that when this bill passes, we kill as much as we can in the courts...The left does it to us, so let's do it to them. Considering who was in charge of writing this Bill (Harry Reid isn't the brightest bulb in the room), I would say that it is a target rich environment.

Another Question to Jim Greer: When Will You Provide the RPOF "A Happy Ending" and Resign?

"The Buzz" has an article that uses as its source a very young woman (21) who accuses Mr. Greer of very questionable behavior as far as his management style. It also infers that he tried to have a "personal" relationship with the girl and when she denied his advances, he began to treat here as so much "meat" to be used and abused. This information should have NO IMPACT on Mr. Greer's continued employment at chairman of the Republican party of Florida (RPOF). Unless backed up by a third party, it is a simple case of he said/she said and, to be fair to Mr. Greer, she continued to work for the man after the alleged romantic pass (Note to Men and Women: When a man or woman in a position of authority make unwanted and unprofessional passes at you, report them immediately. If you don't and you continue to work, you undermine your case). So firing Mr. Greer on this issue is a non-starter.

HOWEVER, (HERE IT COMES, FOLKS) The young lady did reveal a fact that can be easily proven and by a simple search of records and billings and that is: Did Mr. Greer use party funds to pay for massages at the five star hotels he was known to frequent? This question can be quickly resolved by an open and independent audit of Mr. Greer's travel claim and expense accounts. If Mr. Greer got just one (1), I REPEAT JUST ONE (1) massage on the party's dime, then he should be fired immediately. There is NO WAY YOU CAN JUSTIFY A MASSAGE ON YOUR EXPENSE ACCOUNT! (This includes all variations: Deep Tissue, Sports, Swedish, Holistic, Hot Stones, Body Scrubs with fine sand , and my personal favorite, the "Full Service" massage with no tipping required....). One other caveat, if Mr. Greer reimbursed the party after the Sansom story broke, the "Day late and Dollar Short" rule is in effect.

Truth in advertisement: I am a retired sailor. I was a "Westpac" sailor during my first half of my career, and I was no saint. (I was a bachelor..I want that made clear). So, I am quite familiar with debauchery that my fellow sailors are capable of after being a sea for six straight months not seeing land and much less females during that time. But there was were limits and the number one rule was, you pay for your fun out of your own pocket. In my vast experience with Sailors and the ingenious ways they can get themselves into and out of trouble, I am proud to say, they always did their business "out of pocket", on their own free time and never, ever would try to claim a massage on Travel Voucher. This was a hard core rule. (the other Hard Core rule was no cameras....).

Now here is another rule I suspect is enforced in 99% of married households: Husbands are not allowed to let strange women (or men?) rub oil on their bodies for free, much less pay for the privilege. I did some research on this (I asked my wife) and needless to say I got immediate, direct feedback with just a dash of implied violence from her. Mr. Greer's marriage is his own business, so I will not comment any further other than give Mr. Greer some advice: Watch your back....

All kidding aside, If Mr. Greer did get a massage and let our donations to the party pay for it, he must be fired. This is a black and white issue. I expect my Senator, Don Gaetz, to be first in line in demanding an investigation on this. I also expect our Governor to demand an accounting. If they do not, it speaks volumes about both men.

Governor Crist and Senator Gaetz: Do in now and do it publically with full transparency. You can easily determine this fact BEFORE the RPOF quarterly meeting in January. If Mr. Greer is guilty of misusing funds on this issue, he should be already fired/resigned by then.

For Senator Gaetz: You need to send an email to our Okaloosa Party Chairman and RPOF Committeeman and Committeewoman as soon as you read this and tell them you are PESONALLY investigating this issue and WILL have answers to the Okaloosa County Republican Executive Committee before our 6 January meeting in Niceville. I would ask our State Representative, but he is Ray Sansom.

I urge all Republican Officials to encourage their elected State Representatives and Senators to investigate this issue and have answers before the RPOF Quarterly Meeting in January. If Mr. Greer is guilty of "MassageGate", his remaining as RPOF Chairman should be one less issue that will we have to address in January because Mr. Greer will already be gone.

UPDATE: I was just alerted by a reader (see comments) that the Saint Pete Times caught our esteemed Party Chairman using Spa services on the RPOF Dime a YEAR AGO. Now during this time, I was a) Dealing With my Dad Dying and b) Unknowingly awaiting Quad Bypass Surgery in November after Dad passed (it was Sitting on My ass watching TV from November to December that convinced me to become politically active).

He was getting a Scrub and Rub while Florida went Blue For Obama?  Ok, there is definitive proof that he did charge a massage to the RPOF.  My question now is how many times did he do it before getting caught and why was he wasting this money while Obama was winning formerly "Red" Florida.  Time to clean house folks..Full and fair audit of the RPOF.

Another Question to Jim Greer: When will you Resign for the Good of the Party?

Here is a link to download the information that Allen Cox claims, at least on face value, the RPOF is 4 million in the hole.  This is courtesy of "The Buzz".

Mr. Greer says the document is outdated and doesn't reflect the true nature of the RPOF's finances.

I formally ask Mr Greer: Will you break out in detail all travel and reimbursements you and your Staff have made since you took over the Chairmanship of RPOF?

I am under no illusion that the St Pete Times and The Buzz are liberal MSM types and are enjoying the hell out creating a rift in the Florida GOP. At least they think they are causing a rift. I, on the other hand, see this as an opportunity to clean house and an opportunity to send a message to the independent voters out there (You know, people like the Tea Party Patriots) that the GOP in Florida has heard their message loud and clear and is ready to clean up our house in preparation for the elections of 2010.

"Good Ole Boy" politics represented by the Jim Greer, Ray Sansom and yes the Charlie Crist, will not be tolerated any longer. That means also holding politicians accountable for their support of the recent, costly Light Rail Vote. As I stated here, the "Good Ole Boy" politics involved with the vote for this project made it very difficult to sell the GOP brand to the disaffected (and rightly so, I might add) voter.

Republicans: We can start to right our ship in January 2010. If we don't clean house then, don't expect the ever increasing independent voters to support Republican candidates. Expect them to a) vote for the Democrats or b) Start fielding their own slate of independents in the future.

The Republican Party of Florida needs to clean its own house by demanding a full audit of RPOF finances. We must also fire Jim Greer and his staff for a) meddling in the Senate Race in favor of Charlie Crist and b) Acting as a shill for the entrenched incumbents of the Republican party and refusing to back a level playing field for new blood and ideas in our currently moribund party.

One example of misuse of our party funds is found at http://www.drivethediscussion.com/. This officially sanctioned RPOF site is nothing but a shill for the Charlie Crist political machine. Go look at it. This is the best we Republicans can do? I blog part time and I update my content more often than these people, some of who are on the RPOF payroll. I blog as a hobby and I can honestly say, that their site is not worth the "LEDs" it is typed on.

We can do better than that site. Here is an idea: every County Chairman should be able to appoint a "authorized" blogger from their local party and that person should be able to post blog articles and argue ideas for all to see on that site. That one step alone would make it the Republican Blog of Record and make it an "Everyday" must read in every newspaper in the state and by every Republican and independent voter in Florida. All it takes to do this is a little guts and a little imagination. (By the way, I "humbly" offer my services on behalf of Okaloosa County ;)

The bottom line is that the Republican Brand in Florida has gotten stale. We need new blood and new ideas. These are historic times we are living in and it calls for "outside the box" thinking.

Charlie Crist and Jim Greer cannot think outside the Box... THEY ARE THE BOX!!!

A question to Jim Greer: What in the Hell is Going On?

Here is a Link to a post I made A Month Ago.

Now, Jim Greer has fired the Republican Party Vice Chairman Allen Cox because Mr. Cox has alerted Republicans to the prolifigate ways of Mr. Greer. Here is what Mr. Cox said (Via "The Buzz")
"In the seven years that I have been chairman of the budget committee we have never had annual expense levels as high as they are now, and they are more than double than under prior administrations - special travel, staff and consultants."

My Fellow Republicans: Something is very wrong in the RPOF. There MUST be a full and fair accounting of all our funds and it must be done openly and in public. The firing of Mr. Cox reeks of another firing of another gentleman named "Cox", specifically Archibald Cox of Nixon's infamous "Saturday Night Massacre". Jim Greer has yet to come clean with Republicans with regards to his spending and use of RPOF funds. Now, with the firing of Allen Cox, Greer has gone "Nixonian".

It is no secret that Mr. Greer's resignation is going to be demanded by various Republican Party Officials this January. Mr Greer, if he truly is sincere in his desire to see that the Republican Party of Florida prospers in 2010, should offer his resignation immediately. If he does not, The party must demand it come this January. The Republican party must also demand a full and transparent audit of any and all expenses Mr. Greer and his staff have claimed during his tenure.

Winning as many races in 2010 should be the goal of all Republicans. As long as Mr. Greer is in charge of the RPOF, that goal will be of secondary importance within the RPOF. For the good of the Republican Party of Florida, replacing Mr. Greer as party chairman must be the top priority when party officials meet in January. The ax must fall on Mr. Greer and his minions and the cut must quick and fast. We have an election to win in 2010.

As Republicans, we must insist in open and honest leadership.  Cutting up an American Express card is not a sign of integrity and firing whistleblowers isn't cutting it with the rank and file Republicans.

Folks: This Recession is not Close to Being Over

Banks are still in over thier heads and the Commercial Real Estate Crisis will erupt after the Xmas Season.  Many Companies are praying that Xmas shopping will save them, but by all accounts, this year seems to be worse than last year.  Let's face it: The Consumer is tapped out and scared.

Hockey Stick Explained

Nice little effort from the website "The Autopsy"

Food for thought.

Rod Blagojevich: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

It's gonna be hard for Obama to dodge this interview.

He's been off the radar, but he is back!!!! Just in Time for the 2010 Election!

Now, all we need is transcripts of the bugged phone calls Blago was having and with whom!!

The NorthWest Florida Daily News and I Tangle Again

Mr. Rice presents the letter below as an example of man who has a superb way with words. I quote Mr Rice:

"Whether you agreed or disagreed with Mr. Novosel's politics, you had to admire his skill with words."

Here is the unabridged letter that Mr. Rice Cites as an example, Mr. Novosel's final letter to the Editor before he died:

Hang up your robe
I want to share a couple of observations about our area.
First, the retirees and recipients of Medicare, Tricare, etc., who are calling health care reform “socialism” are hypocrites. Second, a racist element is prevalent in the local variety of the Republican Party. I know Republicans, and they are, by and large, fair-minded. But here, the religious-based neoconservatives who have attempted to hijack the Republican Party are pulling for a sick kind of American apartheid. They represent the birthers and the nutty folks who feel that just because Barack Obama is black, he doesn’t deserve to be president of the United States. Well, to the bigots in our area — who represent about 65 percent — you are out of line with the 67 percent of the population that put this intelligent statesman in office! So put your burning crosses and robes away and join the 21st century! The first thing you could do to join the human race is to at least admit that 45 million people (about 10 percent of the American population) don’t have health insurance because it’s so expensive. You who would have Congress do nothing to correct the main problem in our economy should look at what you are against. Here in Florida, I see a bunch of dumb marionettes dancing on strings pulled by the health care and insurance industries.

— MICHAEL NOVOSEL JR.
Shalimar (Sept. 27)

Here is my response
Dear Mr. Rice:

If the writer of this letter is your idea of "Unabashed Liberal" who paints Republicans with "burning crosses and robes" slurs then you need to reexamine what you consider a "Unabashed Liberal".

Quick: Which party has in its Ranks a former "Grand Kleagle"..Or Which Party did George Wallace Belong to in his heyday and...did you know a greater percentage of Republicans voted for the civil rights act of 1964 (82% vice 66% in the Senate and 80% to 60% in the house) than Democrats. To say the Republican party is the sole epicenter of racism in this country is to misread history. Both parties have a history of racism. For example, our current president attended for 20 years a church that was run by an avowed racist. He was married by this same racist. That is a fact that no amount of semantics can cover up or excuse.

I remember as a child driving to visit relatives in Virginia during the early sixties and seeing a large billboard with a Man dressed in Full Klan Regalia with the words "Welcome to Ku Klux Klan Country". I asked my Mother, who was raised in that area, what it was about, and she said "It's a poster done by people who don't know any better and are ignorant". The county we were in was controlled, since reconstruction, by the Democratic party. My Mother was a Republican.

While I know this man just died of Cancer, is retired Military etc... When I read that letter I saw the ravings of a leftwing loon.

As a Republican and a somewhat educated man, I found his last letter to be poorly written, insulting and intellectually shallow. However, I will give the gentleman the benefit of the doubt and assume his mind was addled with drugs and cancer.

However, if this letter is an honest reflection of this man's opinions and writings, then he was beyond the pale with his bigoted and hate filled ideology. I hold him in the same light as I do a David Duke or a William Ayers, regardless of his service to country in the past.

While I would defend to my last dying breath Mr. Novosel's right to write such garbage, to give such hateful speech a pass without condemnation because this man performed well in war, would be like giving Herman Goering a pass because he won the Iron Cross for his service for Germany in WWI. I find it disturbing that those on the left/Democrats don't see it as the disturbed, ignorant hate speech that it is.

Climate Change Primer: This is not Science, It is a Political Movement

In Copenhagen this week, a small group of highly politicized scientists are gathering with the United nations and are trying to implement a plan to transfer wealth of the industrialized world to the many of the poorer countries, with the UN , of course, being the funnel through which all this money will flow.

This was to be the grand culmination of a worldwide effort that has been ongoing for at least the last 25 years, to convince the Industrialized West (with emphasis on the United States)that their exponentially greater use of energy is a) unfair and b) destroying the earth through Man-made global warming (aka: anthropogenic global warming or AGW for short). Unfortunately for them, the records and emails of one of the leading AGW academic institutions (The University of East Anglia) were either leaked or hacked and, to sum things up succinctly, it became painfully obvious that the scientific process had become highly politicized in favor of promoting the concept of Global Warming and the professors in charge were manipulating data to fit their preconceived notions of global warming and were actively pursuing an agenda of blocking any scientist that wanted to submit studies that disagreed with their agenda (in effect, corrupting the Peer-to-Peer critique process).

Here is a link to the PajamasMedia Climategate page, where you can actually read and download the actual data and emails that were obtained from East Anglia. (There is also at this site a plethora of links that challenge the concept of AGW). Of note, East Anglia is now claiming the "Raw Data" that they based their predictions on has been accidentally "destroyed". The head of the East Anglia Climate Department has stepped down and the British government has launched a major investigation.

And isn't the Brits that have been hiding data, our own NASA has for at least two years resisted a "Freedom Of Information" request for their raw climate data. NASA is funded by us, the US taxpayer. They are a civilian agency and there is no reason or right for them to hide their data from the science community, unless of course, doing so would show that, like East Anglia, they have been manipulating data to fit their preconceived Global Warming Agenda.

The UN's Climate Change organization of choice is the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). In response to the leaking of the explosive information from East Anglia, it is telling that they don't dispute the information and its damning information, but rather complain they were obtained illegally. This Organization was given the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. Yes, the same Peace Prize given to Al Gore and just recently, to President Obama.

In opposition to the IPCC is the ICSC (International Climate Science Coalition). They are also attending the Copenhagen Climate Conference and are presenting their own "peer-to peer" reviewed critiques that openly dispute much of the science that AGW proponents use. I urge everyone reading this post to go to the IPCC site, look in the upper right corner and start reading the section they have call "Climate for Laypeople". There you will find information that is broken down and explained for the Non-scientist. It is in no way condescending. Indeed, their objective is to get the word out that anyone with an open mind and has common sense can see read about the science and understand that the "Man-Made Global Warming" alarmists are perverting science for specific, targeted leftist goals.

People who subscribe to AGW do not like open and honest debate. Al Gore will only "lecture" in front of friendly audiences. He will not openly debate the issue with anyone. This should set off alarm bells. However. the skeptics of AGW will debate this issue with the other side any time, any place. For example: Lord Christopher Monckton is the AGW skeptics version of Al Gore. But unlike Al Gore, he is easily accessible to the press and is willing to openly debate all comers. He has personally challenged Al Gore to debate, but Mr. Gore refuses (again a warning sign).

Indeed, when you listen to proponents of AGW, they will always emphasize that AGW is "Settled Science". Sort of the same claim the Catholic Church Inquisition made against the Scientist Galileo. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed and as the above links states: "On 31 October 1992, Pope John Paul II expressed regret for how the Galileo affair was handled, and issued a declaration acknowledging the errors committed by the Church tribunal that judged the scientific positions of Galileo, as the result of a study conducted by the Pontifical Council for Culture." Galileo had been dead for 350 years by this time but better late than never.

In one of my earlier posts, I have a YouTube video where one of the premier Scientists pushing AGW, Professor Stephen Schneider of Stanford University, is confronted by Phelim McAleer, an accredited journalist and authorized to attend the Copenhagen conference. Mr McAleer confronts Prof. Schneider with dilemma of the East Anglia debacle and as you can see, the good professor resorts to the "illegal" obtaining of the emails argument vice what is in them. After that, a UN Guard (eerily reminiscent of a SEIU Thug), uses a barely veiled threat of violence to shut down Mr. McAleer.

This is not the type of behaviour we should expect from our scientists or at a conference being funded, to a great extent, by OUR tax dollars. In an interesting side note, if Professor Schneider's name seems vaguely familiar, he was one of the early proponents of "Global Cooling" scare of the early 1970's. Interestingly, the article goes on to say that Professor Schneider changed his mind by the late seventies on "Global Cooling" and that the "Cooling" scare was media generated. Sound familiar?

Why is it important that we, Mr. And Mrs. Joe Citizen, be aware of the issue. It is not because of any agreement reached in Copenhagen. The Senate needs an actual 2/3's majority to pass it and remember, the earlier Climate Treaty, The Kyoto Protocol, failed 95-0 when is was essentially voted on in the Senate. So anything Obama signs in Copenhagen is DOA once he returns to the U.S.

What is dangerous is the EPA declaring "CO2" a greenhouse gas and subject to governmental regulation. That means if you get the bulk of your electricity from Coal (as I do in NW Florida), be prepared for the Government to slap duties and fines on Coal and hydrocarbon Energy plants and for that cost to be passed down to the consumer. All of this in support of a scientific theory that now lays in tatters.

I have given you some links and sources to help you get up to speed. Feel free to post additional links on my site, Pro-AGW or Con-AGW. My little post is just a starting point to understanding an issue that the current Congress is going to use, if we allow them, to bilk trillions of dollars from the taxpayers of this nation. I can assure you, with a couple of evenings of reading and study, you can be as informed, indeed better informed than the vast majority of our Senators or Representatives in Congress. So when and if they ever hold another Townhall meeting, you will be ready to call him out when he or she starts talking carbon taxes and extra charges for your energy consumption.

What is lacking in this country is a coherent energy policy that has two goals:
1. Making The United States Energy Independent
2. Making Energy Abundant and Cheap.

That is for another post. But here is a taste of part of the solution .

Folks, While Obama Fiddles, Tehran Might be Getting Ready to Burn

This is a fascinating read and if true, portends a possible political earthquake in Iran.

If any of you guys have contacts with either of Senators Nelson and/or LeMieux, you might want to tell them to alert their fellow Senators and Foggy Bottom that the U.S. is missing out on a once in a lifetime chance to back the winner in the struggle for power that is ongoing in Iran. Wouldn't hurt to have y'all alert our Representatives to this fact as well.

While Senator Reid huddles in isolation, trying to pass a healthcare plan that will bankrupt us and President Obama prepares for his return to Europe to act as the White Knight of Climate Change; In the real world, young and old alike are standing up to a corrupt and brutal regime in Iran. And it looks like they might have their military on their side.

President Obama has placed his faith in negotiations with the current theocracy and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. If the Iranian Greens manage to pull off regime change in the near term, Iran's new rulers will look back at the US and will see us as someone who backed the tyrants they replaced. They will owe us nothing, not even goodwill.

We are the heirs of Washington and Jefferson. We can (and should) do better than the path we are currently taking.

This Speaks Volumes About the Global Warming Alarmists

This is how they react when challenged about Climategate: Thug 101. They resort to intimidation and restriction of free and open inquiry to their methods. Time to start calling Al Gore and his "allies in lies" bluff.

Climate Change: It is not science, it is a religion and I am a firm believer in separation of church and state.

With the Talk Of Stimulus - Round Two From the Obama Administration- Time for a Reminder

Obama is talking about taking the TARP funds and instead of paying down the deficit, use it as a "slush" fund to politically connected cronies (in the guise of Stimulus II).

Folk, the first Stimulus failed and the second is more of paying off old political debts vice any coherent plan to get us out of the economic mess.

The Government can't spend its way to economic prosperity.

Example A: Roosevelt and the New Deal

Example B: How we REALLY got out of the Great Depression!

Text of a Email I sent to My State Senator, Don Gaetz

Senator Gaetz,

I never heard anything from you before the vote. I did my homework and came to the conclusion that rail is a) Incredibly cost effective for transporting goods b) Incredibly inefficient and costly when transporting people. Seed money from the US Government will eventually translate to taxes for Floridians, regardless of their location in the state, much like Medicare.

Also, I was dead serious when I said JD Alexander should have recused himself. It was improper and, quite frankly, reeks of entitlement and corruption, that a) he voted for this and b) The Senate leadership didn't have the integrity to privately ask him to step aside and then publicly ask for it when/if he refused.

I don't know about the world of the Florida Senate, but in my world of everyday Joes, allowing Senator Alexander to have ANY input into the crafting or voting on this bill was simply wrong. We, as Republicans, could have chosen to do the right thing. We failed. To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

When I was in the Navy, I was once faced with doing the right thing or NOT ruining the career of a very promising young LT (he was my Protégé) because he made a very bad personal choice with regards to his fiancé. (She was enlisted when they began their Liaison and while she was getting out of the Navy, she came to visit him in London while she was on terminal leave). An Officer took notice and reported the transgression. A special Inquiry was ordered and I was the officer assigned to do it. The LT was guilty of fraternization both in London and his previous command. Mind you, he was going to marry this girl (I think the invitations were already sent out), I could have covered it up, but to do so would have shown to the enlisted people in London there was one standard for officers and another for enlisted. I played it like "Joe Friday" and presented the facts and the result was a letter of reprimand for the LT and the effective end of his very promising career. This young man WAS a friend but I did the RIGHT thing. You can ask my wife Gina about how tough it was for me to do this. It tore me up.

While you may have had your reasons for voting for this project, I find it very difficult to understand why the Republican Leadership did not have the intestinal fortitude to make Senator Alexander step aside. It was a 27 to 10 vote, so his absence from the debate would have had zero impact on the final outcome.

There seems to be a different set of rules for Politicians than the ordinary Citizen. A secretary of the Treasury that cheats on his taxes; A Senator who nominates his girlfriend for a judgeship; A governor who uses state money to carry on a relationship with another woman; Trips to the Caribbean or Europe on the taxpayer dime; A family fortune enhanced with a vote for Railroads.

Finally, you have made it harder for local Republicans to argue there is a difference between Republicans and Democrats in Florida. I'll keep trying, but it just became a tougher sell.

Slowly, the MSM is Starting to Realize They Backed the Wrong Horse

CBS is taking a fresh look. Even thought the Headline says the scientists are "Sticking" to the warming theory, read the whole article and find out that there is a major rift happening.

Science should be about truth...Not politics.

For those who have been paying attention to this issue, it has been very plain that science was not supporting the Warmest claims (Hint: When they switched to calling it "Climate Change" instead of "Global Warming", that should have sent the MSM into full investigative mode.)

It is becoming obvious that the new media is outstripping the old when it comes to expertise, investigation and yes, integrity....

Good Ole Boy System Still In Place - Florida Loses

Here is the role call vote. 27-10.

My Senator, Don Gaetz voted with the majority. J.D. Alexander DID NOT recuse himself from the vote, even though his vote was not needed to pass. This is failure of moral leadership by the Republican Party of Florida.

Welcome to more debt for a mode of transportation that will not work in Florida without subsidies and tax increases. Our money to Union thugs. People will always rather drive than take rail. Those that will take the high speed rail from Tampa to Orlando will be tourists and the vast bulk of them will be flying directly into Orlando, or rent their car in Tampa vice lugging their luggage form airport to train to rental car to hotel.

A better goal would have been for the US Congress to spend this money on a coherent Energy plan that advanced Nuclear power and make the country energy independent. That would have shown wisdom and foresight.

It is now going to be real hard to sell the Republican brand to the Independents of NW Florida.

"Hell" Is Being A Washington Redskins Fan

That's all I'm going to say....

Florida Republicans: Time For An Integrity Check

http://www.bloggybayou.com/2009/12/text-of-email-i-sent-to-senator-storms.html

The above link pretty much sums up the basic facts around the current push to get a high speed rail Link between Tampa and Orlando, and by extension, trying to apply a densely urban mass transit paradigm to a State like Florida in order to link major urban areas in the State.

It is , quite simply, a black hole for taxpayers money. Senator Paula Dockery has done impressive work in exposing this issue for the fraud that it is.

She did it the old fashioned way, she used facts and figures that make it obvious to all, that every person who would buy a ticket on this proposed rail system would be buying a ticket that is supplemented by the Florida tax base up to 90% of the actual cost of the ticket. If the decision was to charge the rail passenger the true cost involve in moving him from Point A to Point B, then the rail system would sit unused because it would cost-prohibitive for the average user.

It was, with only minimal amount of effort, easy to determine the fact that for a society to provide rail service to its population, you must be willing to supplement the system with tax dollars.. period.

The fact are indisputable and Senators Dockery and Storms have been on the "tip of the spear" fighting this abortion. They are to be commended for their efforts. For Senator Dockery, I suspect this is going to be the breakout issue that is going to make her competitive in the Governor's race. Bill McCollum, who has spent his life running for the "Next Political Office", has shown himself to be a mere Crist Clone, glibly supporting this rail initiative in hopes he can, by his support, buy votes to get him elected.

Senator Atwater also appears to have dedicated his life to running for the "Next Political Office", in this case Chief Financial Officer. I may be naive, but to be the man who called a Special Session of the Florida Legislature in order to force the passage of a mass transit system that will, WITHOUT A DOUBT, put additional burden on an already overtaxed populace is not a trait I am looking for in our next CFO.

Obama and the Democrats enacted at the beginning of 2009 one of the most monumental, poorly planned and wasteful spending bills in the history of mankind. As I said in my earlier post:

"Light rail is a feel good project pushed by Democrats from densely populated urban districts who think everyone should have a cheap Subway station. I (and a lot of other Republicans in NW Florida) are upset that just because Obama throws "free money" out there, we Republicans just shrug our shoulders and say , "well, since you insist… we will take it" . This proposed rail system is a Pandora's Box of taxes and fees that are going to be fostered on the average Floridian for generations to come once this crack pot scheme is up and running.... Bottom Line: This is a REAL BAD IDEA. This project, if enacted, will be the Poster Child of Obama's failed Stimulus Plan. And I am upset that when the Democrats in DC said "Jump", the reaction of our Republican Senate Leader and House Leader was "How High?" and called a special session. This does not endear them to their base or to the ever expanding Tea Party people."

This is a core issue of principle for Republicans. It is not an issue that can be painted in subtle shades gray. It is a stark issue in black and white. Is the Republican party of Florida going to go back to its small government, financially responsible roots or is it to continue to be creature of the "Charlie Crist" Republicans; Republicans who are just concerned about getting elected to next highest office and willing to spend the people's money with abandon, in hopes of buying their way into the voters heart?

Finally, there is the question of integrity and it has to do with the apparent tolerance of allowing Senator J.D. Alexander to take part in this debate. After calling this "Special Session", the first action our leaders in the Republican party, from Charlie Crist down, should have done is insist that Senator Alexander recuse himself from this debate. Indeed, he should have been told to tell his staff to go home and he should have left Tallahassee as well. His cousin recused himself from the House debate, yet Senator Alexander says he has to consult with lawyers to see if he has a legitimate "Conflict of Interest". Please, if this rail bill is enacted, Senator Alexander stands to make millions. Even my fourteen year old son understands that Senator Alexander has a massive conflict of interest. For the Senator to say he has to "consult lawyers" is an insult to the people of Florida. Does he think of us as fools?

It is tolerance of such obvious "Good Ole Boy" corruption that is causing people to desert the Republican Party in droves. If we Republicans at the local level want to have any hope of convincing people we are the party of honor and integrity, then I expect every Republican in the legislature to demand Senator Alexander to walk away from this debate. And, for the good of the party, Senator Alexander should never run for public office again, because it is now obvious that personal integrity is not a priority for him.

It is gut-check time for the current Republicans in elected office. Time to show some backbone and say no to this absurd project and time to tell those Republicans like Senator Alexander that we have no tolerance for such immature, selfish behavior and judgment as he has displayed.

Kevin Jennings Must Not Be Allowed to Influence Our Schools

This Link is Graphic in nature. (WARNING: It includes evidence of support for adult/child sex)

These are excerpts from a list of recommended books for 7th through 12th Grades made by President Obama's "Safe School Czar" Kevin Jennings organization that he was the founder and Executive Director of: the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Mr Jennings was chosen by President Obama to be the nation’s Safe Schools Czar primarily because he had founded and led GLSEN.

This research was done by Scott Baker from Breitbart-TV.com and has been posted at Gateway Pundit. They deserve praise and your support for bringing this issue to light.

Just to put things in perspective, My Son, who is 14, informed me Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was considered a "banned" book because of the use of the word "N" word.

I am retired Navy and it takes a lot to shock me. I could only take a few minutes of reading this before I was convinced something evil was being fostered on our children.

This information stunned me to my core.

Complain to your Senator and your Congressman, regardless of his or her party affiliation. As anyone who will tell you, I am a person who would be considered a libertarian when it comes to adult personal lives. However, I draw the line at this being considered appropriate literature for any student in any grade. To have a man in the administration who was an advocate of this in our schools is beyond the pale.

Kevin Jennings employment and support by our government must end now.

The correct answer is: I can't recognize any from what they are saying and doing.... They all sound like Alcee Hastings...

Text of An Email I Sent to Senator Storms

Senator Storms: Here is A blog Post I put up when I read about the Special Session.

http://www.bloggybayou.com/2009/11/florida-senate-and-house-call-special.html

I'm a retired Naval Intel officer and I've been searching the Web for examples of Light rail being a success… So far, the only mass rail transit systems that might, and I repeat MIGHT, operate on generated revenue alone is Metro NYC/Atlanta and maybe San Francisco. I've got to work to make a living, so most of my research time is limited… I should have My formal Blog post with more data on this issue Saturday.

They built one of these systems in Minneapolis, MN and from what I gather, it is a complete bust.

Great Britain is probably the best example of a densely populated country who still can't make a profit on their rail system for moving people (whether nationalized , privatetized or run as a Non-Profit . (http://www.publicvalues.ca/ViewArticle.cfm?Ref=00354) (Note: This Link is to a site that wants British rail "Nationalized" Again… When it was a taxpayer black hole!)

On My Blog Link I have a document provided by Mr. Sid Dinerstein on the "tar baby" of Light rail and I have attached some other documentation as well

On page three of the Budget FY10.PDF (also from Mr. Dinerstein) you have the South Regional Transportation authority's proposed budget. You will note they had Approx 9 million in revenue in FY 09 and required 50 Million in grants and taxes to operate. Think of the drain this is on the local economy.

In summary, Light rail is a feel good project pushed by Democrats from densely populated urban districts who think everyone should have a cheap Subway station. I (and a lot of other Republicans in NW Florida) are upset that just because Obama throws "free money" out there, we Republicans just shrug our shoulders and say , "well, since you insist… we will take it" . This proposed rail system is a Pandora's Box of taxes and fees that are going to be fostered on the average Floridian for generations to come once this crack pot scheme is up and running.

Here is a link from the Heritage Foundation: http://www.heritage.org/Research/SmartGrowth/wm745.cfm#_ftn1 , Somewhat dated but still applicable. It talks of the Minnesota Light rail.

In a Lighter Tone, here is PJ O'Rourke's take: http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110006428

This does not endear them to their base or to the ever expanding Tea Party people (Who I am trying to get to register Republican so they can vote in fiscal conservatives)

Feel free to forward this Email to any and everyone who is a Republican in the legislature and is thinking we have to spend this money. If they are in favor of this, it tells me a) they are Democrats in Republican Clothing or b) They are too lazy to do even the minimum research required on this issue.

To me, the answer is : " IT IS A NO BRAINER---VOTE NO AND SEND A MESSAGE TO DC WE IN FLORIDA ARE NOT THEIR LAPDOGS!"

You may quote me

I say Senator Alexander should follow his cousin and abstain. When personal fortunes stand to be made on your personal political decisions..It is time to step away from the issue.

As a Republican, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in our Republican led legislature letting this Special Session take place. It's activity like this to lead others to say there isn't a dimes worth of difference between the two parties.

I'm researching, working, typing and emailing my arse off to show people that there IS a difference. Republicans in the Florida House and Senate: Prove to me I'm not working in vain. Put a stop to this charade and blind orgy of worthless spending.

End this Session now with a no vote for this Boondoggle and go home for the Holidays.

A Message From Mr. Henry Kelly, Candidate, No Party Affiliation, for US House of Representatives, First District of Florida

The President has stated that he will announce a strategy regarding Afghanistan on Dec. 1st. As a candidate for Congress, I want to ask where is our Representative from District 1? In a recent newsletter regarding the President’s course of action, Rep. Miller wrote, “It is time to take responsibility. It is time to make a decision on Afghanistan.”(1). I couldn’t agree more - with our local soldiers, sailors and airmen in harm’s way, they and the American public deserve nothing less.

Rep. Miller has been in office nearly 10 years, and it’s long past time for him to take responsibility and a leadership role in Afghanistan. Congressmen have a defined role and authority under our Constitution and Rep. Miller has failed to apply this authority under Pres. Bush, and continues to do nothing under Pres. Obama. He has even complained that he has been unable to meet with Gen. McChrystal.(2) A member of the House Armed Services Committee unable to gain access to a Commanding General during wartime? Perhaps Rep. Miller’s lack of military experience is partly to blame for this – a US Congressman, during wartime, should be demanding, and getting, access to all sources in an effort to reach an informed decision. I ask, is this taking Congressional responsibility or leadership?

Article 1, section 8 of the Constitution states explicitly, "The Congress shall have the power to declare war." It prohibits the President from solely making that decision. The most influential author of the Constitution, James Madison, wrote in 1793, "In no part of the Constitution is more wisdom to be found than in the clause which confides the question of war or peace to the legislature, and not the executive department. . . . The trust and the temptation would be too great for any one man."

Congress is again abrogating its role by a failure to define objectives in coordination with the President, the State Department, and our Military forces. James Madison further warned, "Those who are to conduct a war cannot in the nature of things, be proper or safe judges whether a war ought to be commenced, continued or concluded." It is clear from this quote that the framers of the Constitution intended for Congress to have a key role in deciding this matter.

No military operation, from an 8 man patrol to the invasion of Normandy, begins without a clear statement of the field commander’s intent and objectives. Yet we have been engaged in a war since 2001 without either.

If I were in office now, I would demand a floor debate on the question of War. It would make the recent health care debates, while important, seem like a family picnic, but this is what our Constitution requires. Military field operations require secrecy – continued involvement in a war requires the voice of the American people. Congress is meant to be that voice.

If I were your Congressman, I would be demanding and meeting with our military leadership because of the number of soldiers, sailors, and airman from this district who are directly in the line of fire, not complaining about party politics getting in the way of a meeting. Rep. Miller has not taken steps to enforce the Constitution on this matter under Pres. Bush, and appears to be continuing the same "do nothing controversial" policy under Pres. Obama.

We deserve a Congress, and Congressmen, who are willing to do their constitutional duty – either define clear objectives with the President, or bring our troops home.

BloggyBayou Is Officially Open for Any Candidate Running For Any Office that Any Voter In Okaloosa County can Vote For

In my many sojourns out to visit Tea Parties and Republican Party functions, I have always told any office seeker who has talked to me, that he/she is free to send me ANY post on ANY subject and I would post it "unedited" on my site. One candidate so far has taken me up on the offer and I will be posting his letter on my site shortly and letting the good folks of Okaloosa County and Florida read it. This offer stands wheter you are running For U.S. Senate or Dogcatcher. Bandwidth is cheap. Ideas and debate are priceless.

However, as all those candidate's know, anyone who wants to argue or post comments are welcome as well. But, regardless of what party a person belongs to, if that person is willing to step into the political arena and all the subsequent scrutiny that comes with it, my hat is off to you. "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!"
